Sunyani Congress Was Choreographed - Nana Konadu's Team

Deputy General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress and Spokesperson for former President Jerry John Rawlings is accusing his own party of tilting the whole process and massaging figures at the just ended delegates' congress to favour the sitting president, John Evans Atta Mills, describing the election results as being choreographed. President Mills won the partys Presidential race in a landslide victory when he polled more than 96% of the total vote cast as against Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings dismal 3%. However, Kofi Adams in an interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi on PeaceFM, disclosed that the team will organize a press conference on Wednesday to let the whole country and the world know what really transpired in Sunyani. According to him, the whole process; from the sitting arrangements to the voting session was marred by intimidation; stressing that the results was not a true reflection of the change that the delegates are calling for. If it was a true reflection, he said, we will not be talking the way we are talking. We know very well, the sitting and voting arrangements were all designed to produce this result. It was even going to produce a worse case result if they had adapted the regional voting. But all the same, they still adapted a strategy; if you have about 10 delegates, sitting close to them is their DCE; and if out of these 10 delegates, the candidate has about 4 delegates supporting him; these four and the DCE as well as the Ministers who were sitting with them are serving as a check and continue to intimidate. So the factor of fear was used in this election. He also alleged that money exchanged hands on the day, with some delegates calling on them (Mrs Rawlings team) to give them money. However, Mr Adams added that they were not mandated to give the delegates any money since Mrs Rawlings was in to deal with the problem, adding, so we cannot pay you for saving you. You are being saved from being drowned and you are saying that person should pay you before saving you because the person who drowned you gave you some money before putting you on board the ship. To Mr Kofi Adams, the big issue lies with the 2012 general elections, adding, yes, weve voted choreographed results, but whether that results will lead us anywhere, we wait to see.
