NDC Chairman Arrested

FESTUS ADDAI, the New Edubiase Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who thought he could drive an unregistered vehicle and go scot free, has found himself in the grips of the law. He was arrested and detained by the Obuasi Divisional Police Command after bragging to police officers at the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) that he was untouchable since he was an NDC constituency chairman. Festus Addai, a contractor who was driving a white Toyota Tundra, failed to stop when he was signalled by the police to do so. He later stopped and dashed out of his vehicle to rant at the police officer, who decided to cross his lane to effect his arrest. Daily Guide gathered that Addai then bragged of his association with the present NDC government and failed to hand over the car keys to the law enforcement officer after he was told of the offence committed. He allegedly told officers that he could not be arrested and prosecuted on the offence and then called his regional chairman to intervene. He was seen writing his statement behind the counter at the Tutuka Police Station around 4:00 pm yesterday, while pressure was being mounted on officers to discontinue the case. The Divisional MTTU Commander, DSP Iddrisu Tanko Issifu, was tight-lipped when the paper sought audience with him and directed this reporter to his superiors.
