Murder At Adenta

The remains of a 57-year-old-man known only as Freeman, suspected to have been murdered on Wednesday, has been discovered in front of the residence of an Ambassador (name withheld) at Adenta Sakora, Accra. The Adenta District Commander, DSP Stephen K. Ahaitafu said a resident lodged a complaint that a lifeless body of an old man was lying in a pool of blood in front of his house. When the police got to the scene, the deceased laid on his back with his shoes as well as a mini jute sack full of ripe plantain, by his side. He had stab wounds on both sides of the waist, from where he was suspected to have bled to death after his assailants stabbed him deeply. Evidence gathered from the scene indicated that the deceased might have struggled fiercely with the murderer a long way off, before staggering to his death at the frontage of the said ambassadors house. The police said thorough investigations would be conducted to bring the perpetrators of the heinous crime to book. It was not clear whether he was killed for ritual purposes or for his goods, since the sack of plantain he had carried was still beside the dead body. Sources said the man had visited his wife, a cook at the Police Headquarters, and was returning home when he met his untimely death.
