Metro TV MD Sacked Me From The Station - Suhini

Former employee of Metropolitan Entertainment Television (Metro TV) and now current host of Radio Golds Alhaji and Alhaji programme, Suhini Alhassan, has disclosed why he left the Accra-based station. Speaking on the Gold Newspaper Review on Friday, he revealed that he did not leave out of his own accord but was forced out by Alhaji Haruna Alhassan, Deputy Managing Director of Metro TV because of perceived association with the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC). I have been very diplomatic about my leaving Metro TV... it was Haruna Alhassan who sacked me from Metro TV because I was host of Alhaji and Alhaji., he said. His comment comes on the heels of claims by the Metro TV Dep. Managing Director, Alhassan Haruna that he had not been treated fairly by Radio Gold in the recent stand-off between the television station and the ruling NDC. The NDC, on Thursday, July 21st, decided with immediate effect to boycott any political discussion programme on Metro TV due to what the ruling party described as unfair treatment meted out to them by management of the Accra-based commercial television network. According to the NDC, the television station had conspired with some persons close to the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to muscle-out NDC representatives from the stations Good Morning Ghana programme. The Metro TV Deputy MD claims he was verbally abused and denigrated but was not given the right of rejoinder on Radio Gold, when the Larterbiokorshie-based radio station only interviewed a Deputy Minister of Information, Okudzeto Ablakwa and the CEO of the Ghana Free Zones Board, Kojo Twum Boafo for their version of events that culminated in the NDCs decision not to appear on Metro TV indefinitely. But according to Alhassan Suhini, they tried all they could to reach him (Haruna), but to no avail and when they finally had access to a staff of the station, he declined to speak to the issue because he had not been authorized to do so. Alhassan Suhini was therefore surprised that the Metro TV Deputy MD was crying about fairness when he (Haruna) had subjected him (Suhini) to similar treatment a couple of years ago.
