ALHAJI BABANLAMI Sadat, a staff at the Office of the Vice President has told DAILY GUIDE that his boss, John Dramani Mahama holds former Vice President Aliu Mahama in high esteem.
According to him, the Vice President has demanded of his staff that they show utmost respect to the former Vice President who he said is his senior as both of them belong to the Northern fraternity.
Alhaji Babanlami Sadat, one-time MP for Awutu-Senya was reacting to an editorial about his alleged show of disrespect to the former Vice President when he turned up for social functions such as funerals and others in the Islamic community.
�This cannot be true because the Vice President himself has demanded that we show respect to the man he calls his senior. At a recent function, Vice President John Mahama demanded that Alhaji Aliu Mahama sat on the dais where he sat,� he said.
There have been a number of complaints about how the former Vice President is denied certain privileges he deserves as a former Number Two Citizen of the country when he honors invitations to social functions.
Such complainants some of who have called the paper�s office on telephone, stated that besides being a former Vice President Aliu Mahama is the first Muslim Vice President in this country and therefore deserves the respect that goes with this status and not discrimination.
Alhaji Babanlami Sadat has however described the foregone as untrue and that he would be the last person to show such disrespect to this top politician.
