NPP Equips Youth For 2012 Elections

THE NEW Patriotic Partys (NPP) central regional branch has launched its regional youth wing as part of strategies to ensure victory for the opposition party in the 2012 general elections. The youth wing comprising 104 youth were drawn from all 19 constituencies in the region to represent eight different committees including finance, sports, education and recruitments among others. The group will be responsible for educating members at the grassroots about the partys plans, policies and visions and coming up with strategies to win more votes for the NPP ahead of the 2012 election. Addressing the gathering, NPP Central Regional Youth Organizer, Francis Ejaku Donkor disclosed that the youth wing is the first of its kind in the country where youths in the party will be mobilized and used to disseminate the partys ideologies to the masses. According to him, since the youth are the greatest assets that a political party has to win elections, there was the need for the NPP to consider re-positioning and grooming them to take over the party from their leaders. Mr. Donkor noted that this year has been earmarked for youth capacity building and training to keep them abreast with the partys principles and strategies in the battle to unseat the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He therefore charged the youth wing to also establish associations in their polling stations and constituency to win over more sympathizers for the party. Mr. Ejaku promised to work hard to enable the youth go the extra mile to ensure that NPP flag bearer, Nana Akufo-Addo wins the election. The occasion was also used to honour the partys former youth organizers for their contributions towards the NPPs development. Ejaku said a Youth Fund will soon be set up to solicit support the task ahead of the party and ensure a smooth road to victory. On his part, the 2008 NPP Campaign Communications Director, Dr. Arthur Kennedy said a good candidate and hard work are the only factors to be considered by the party to be able to win Election 2012. According to him the party has elected a good and marketable candidate in the person of Nana Addo. He however needs a good team to take him to the promise land. Dr. Arthur Kennedy urged the youth to devote their time and energy to working assiduously for the party and involve the grassroots members in their decision making and other activities in order not to create any tensions. He charged them not to focus on the abysmal performance of the NDC when they talk to people about their party but concentrate on the developmental projects instituted by the NPP administration which the ruling government has abandoned.
