Junior Agogo Confident Of Successful Season At Hibernian

Ghana striker Junior Agogo believes a blend of youth and experience at Hibernian should result in the club doing really well. He has also urged fans to be patient at the beginning of the 2011/12 campaign. Agogo signed a one-year deal with the club after impressing on trial and is currently awaiting clearance to begin his career in Edinburgh, while also recovering from a minor injury. Hibs lost their SPL opener at home to Celtic and had an indifferent pre-season, defeating Berwick Rangers and East Fife, drawing with Falkirk and losing to Livingston and Blackpool. Agogo though is confident his side will kick on and give the Easter Road faithful something to cheer about, having had time to reflect on the quality in the squad during his spell on the sidelines. I said to the gaffer that when everybody is fit it will be good, as it will create competition for everybody, Agogo told STV.. I think we have got an amazing team. Weve got a lot of youth, which is good, and a few older boys as well. The blend is good. We havent had the best of starts but we know what we are capable of doing. I would just ask the fans to be a little bit patient and we will come good. I know we are more than capable of doing really well this year. I just want to get myself and push on to hopefully get some points and start scoring some goals. I am someone who gets goals. Agogo also praised Colin Calderwood and says his previous experiences of working with the Hibernian boss convinced him to move to Easter Road. The Ghanaian striker was available on a free agent after leaving Apollon Limassol and, having played under Calderwood at Nottingham Forest from 2006 to 2008, says the decision to move to Scotland was an easy one. Speaking to the gaffer when I first came here brought back memories of when I played for him, he said. All my memories of me and the gaffer playing wise were good. Hes definitely a manager you would want to play for. He knows how to man manage people, which for me is a key part of being a manager. He knows how to get the best out of players and he managed to get the best out of me when I played for him. Calderwood has been frequently linked with a move to either Nottingham Forest or Birmingham City to take up an assistant managers role. But, when asked if it concerned him that his boss could leave, Agogo replied: No. I dont think he will go. Agogo is also waiting on international clearance to formalise his switch to the club but says the wait-combined with his injury-has given him the time to properly settle in. I feel like Ive been here for ages because it has taken a while for me to sign, he said. But on the flip side its been good because I have been able to meet the people behind the scenes, the players and all of that. I feel part of the squad already. Hopefully I should start doing a bit of running by the end of the week, so I will hopefully start training.
