Togbuiga Gabusu Is Engaged In Naked NPP Politics Stan Dogbe

One of the Presidential Aides at the Castle, Stan Dogbe, has taken a swipe at the Paramount Chief of the Hohoe Traditional area, Togbuiga Gabusu VI, for suggesting that residents of the Volta region are angry with the NDC government for failing to fulfil most of the promises made to them. The Paramount Chief said the area where President Mills cut the sod for the construction of an allied Health Science-based university had become a forest that wild animals use as their habitat. However Mr. Stan Dogbe says the chiefs claims are totally false and only political. According to him, the Chief wines and dines with his cronies in the opposition New Patriotic Party and that he was only doing the partys propaganda rather than representing the views of the people of the Volta Region. I think that the Hon. Chief would help us a lot if he makes it very clear that he wants to go into the realms of politics and not hide behind the chieftaincy title to make certain pronouncements. If the Government was not committed to the promise of building a University, it would not have set up a committee to work on it to the extent that the draft document or the LI is before Parliament and should pass in 21 days. And as has also been explained, you do not start a University necessarily in brand new structures. There are incubator buildings that are going to be used. Togbuiga also talks about the Eastern Corridor road and says that where is it? When Togbuigas cronies the NPP, who are his friends or that he is aligned to were in Government for eight years, how many meters of the Eastern Corridor road project did they touch? What infrastructure in terms of educational infrastructure did they put up in the Volta Region? I think that we ought to give credit where it is due and also let our chiefs know if they want to descend into the realms of politics they should make it very clear because some of us know the leanings of Togbuiga Gabusu very clearly. And that is not a secret to many Voltarians2 he claimed. Mr. Stan Dogbe said the Paramount Chiefs concern that work on the Eastern corridor road network had delayed is not supported by facts. If he (Togbuiga) wants to do politics, he should do it clearly, because the evidence on the ground does not support the point that we are not fulfilling our promise of establishing Universities in the Volta and Brong Ahafo Regions or that we are failing as far as the Eastern Corridor roads are concerned. "Government has already instructed that 120 million dollars should be used to start the Eastern Corridor roads whiles the other financing arrangements from Brazil and the European Union have also been secured and awaiting parliamentary approval for the project to start for the benefit of the entire country. So what is the essence in Togbuiga Gabusu engaging in naked NPP politics on the development of the Volta Region and saying that all Voltarians are not happy? It will be interesting to do a census of the Volta Region to determine what percentage of Voltarians are not happy with President Mills and his administration he said.
