We Are Hungry... Serial Callers Cry Out

Three popular serial callers of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) have stated that they have constantly gone hungry since their party was elected to rule the country. The three, Osei Yaw Nketia aka Dr. Asemfoforo, Mordecai Ofosu Mensah and Kweku Baako, stormed the offices of DAILY GUIDE at Nima Residential Area to express their frustrations on what they described as the total neglect by the party they fought hard to help come to power. They warned that if President Mills ignored their call to reshuffle his appointees by booting out the non-performing ones, the NDC would head straight into opposition after the 2012 general elections. Dr. Asemfoforo accused the NDC of starving its own members, particularly those at the grassroots. He said the Mills/Mahama government had become intolerant of criticisms, noting, They are failing to accept constructive criticisms. If you become critical against them they threaten you with arrests. When we were in opposition, I heaped daily insults on then NPP government and its appointees but nobody arrested me or harmed me. While I was doing it, these same NDC members were encouraging me to do more but since they (NDC) assumed office, they been very hostile to these same insults on them, yet would always want to do it to others. I stood in front of President Kufuor and made disparaging remarks about him and his government in Sekondi Takoradi but instead of arresting me, Asemfoforo said, he rather ordered a police commander to protect me. I think that was a mark of political maturity. He claimed that after careful reflection, he decided to make a public apology to President Kufuor but it was fiercely resisted by big guns within the NDC, most of whom are ministers in the current government. He mentioned Ama Benyiwa Doe, Fiifi Kwetey, James Agyenim Boateng and Antwi Boasiako Sekyere, as some of the NDC appointees who allegedly maltreated him when he decided to apologize to then President Kufuor. We did worst things in opposition when it comes to insults. We have become intolerant and are bent on arresting those who are speaking their minds. We should rather concentrate on how to deliver the Better Ghana Agenda that we promised Ghanaians because the people are saying they have not seen anything. He said the NPP, while in office, never arrested or jailed anybody for criticizing them, adding, All they did was to arraign our members who allegedly caused financial loss to the state before the law courts to be tried. When asked if he would have spoken the same way if he was sorted out by the government, Dr. Asemfoforo replied: I would still have criticized them because I am not the type who endorses wrongdoing or indiscipline. Dr. Asemfoforo said, President Kufuor was organizing peoples assembly regularly to allow ordinary Ghanaians on the street to ask questions about the trend of development but President Mills has failed to do so. When he took his turn, Mordecai Ofosu Mensah accused some ministers and government appointees of grabbing property left right and center, alleging that they say Rawlings thwarted their effort to grab property so once President Mills is weak, they are taking the advantage to get more. The signs are clear that the NDC is preparing itself for opposition. Every week there is something negative about them in the media. President Mills should wake up and reshuffle his cards, he noted. Kweku Baako said the NDCs Media Analysts Group, led by the foul-mouthed Kojo Triddles, has hijacked the serial-calling agenda and are making money at our expense. Some people including members of the so-called Media Analysts Group are enjoying at our expense that is why anytime you visit an appointee, he or she will insist that you are on a payroll.
