Ghana - Nigeria Friendly Rescheduled For October 11

The cancelled Ghana and Nigeria international friendly has been rescheduled for October 11 in Watford. The long-awaited west African derby was suddenly called off on Tuesday following spreading civil unrest in Englands capital city, close to Watford. The game organizer, Justin Addo, confirmed that both FAs have agreed in principle to carry on with the fixture in two months time, pending the English FA approval. We are on course, he said. It will definitely be played, hopefully in October, by which time the situation will have died down. The date in October falls on a Tuesday, a few days after the final matchday of the African Cup of Nations qualifiers. The Hertfordshire Constabulary called off the match on Tuesday due to the demand on police resources across the South East. The organizer said tickets already bought for Watfords Vicarage Road Stadium will still remain valid for the new date. It is unclear whether those who cannot attend the rescheduled encounter will be able to receive a refund for the original ticket. The last time the Black Stars and the Super Eagles played in an international friendly it ended 4-1 in favor of the Ghanaians.
