Ghanaian actress, Selassie Ibrahim and her Smarttys Management & Productions (SMP) Company are set to air their new and hilarious sitcom, �The Miser� on Ghanaian television and across Africa via Africa Magic on DStv. �The Miser� revolves around a family headed by the miserly, Efo Kojo who finds it hard to spend on his family but very easy to spend on himself. His demands on his wife include making the most out of the little money he gives for housekeeping, and satisfying his insatiable appetite which sometimes requires his wife cooking seven times a day. His children live in constant terror, fearing to overstep their boundaries as their freedom is monitored and their use of every amenity or utility in the house is measured. How does his jobless brother-in-law survive living with him and how does the community at large deal with his antics? According to Selassie who plays the wife in the series and also the producer the series, �The Miser� hopes to create awareness about the potentials of agriculture and the need not to waste food resources in Ghana in a witty and subtle manner. The series establishes agriculture as the source of Efo Kojo�s wealth that sets him apart in his community and it is the hope of the producer that this would drive home the message, to especially the youths of Ghana who are only interested in quick money, that indeed there is wealth in agric. �The Miser� features stars like Kofi Adjorlolo, Selassie Ibrahim, Nana Ama MacBrown, Nadia Buari, John Dumelo, Roselyn Ngissah, Grace Nortey, James Gardiner, Henry Agba, Beverly Afaglo; and reintroduces a lot of the lost old faces in Ghanaian cinema and television. and many others. The series is directed by John Izedonmi. Selassie Ibrahim, the Producer comments: �The series is a typical Ghanaian story and I�m proud to be associated with it because I�m Ghanaian. It�s a true story from a particular region in Ghana and when I came across it, I thought this is something else and the story needed to me told in my own way�. �The Miser� took a year-and-half to complete its writing process and already over 30 episodes have been completed and are ready for broadcasting. The series will start airing from August 13 on a number of TV stations. GTV will air it on Saturdays, 6:30 pm, with details yet to be announced for TV3 and other networks.
