Woman Boiled In Pepper Soup

Grace Andoh, aka Aba, has been dragged to an Accra Circuit Court for virtually bathing Ernestina Owusu, a co-tenant, with specially prepared hot pepper soup without meat. The seamstress, who is facing charges on causing unlawful harm, pleaded guilty. The presiding judge, Doris Bimpong, convicted the accused person on her plea but she deferred judgment to August 30, 2011. Aba is on a GH10,000 bail with two sureties with justification. Mr. Kofi Blagodzi, the prosecutor, said the accused, on August 7, 2011, hanged her clothes on a drying line which she had stretched to cover the entrance of the complainants door. When the complainant complained, it resulted in a hot argument, during which the accused person threatened that something would happen that day after the fight over the drying line. At about 4:30pm, the accused person was said to have started casting insinuations and using abusive words, with the intention of getting the complainant into another fight. During the fight, Aba suddenly poured a pot of hot pepper soup which contained no meat or fish on the body of the complainant, currently breastfeeding a four-month-old baby. After executing her diabolic act, the accused person rushed to the Achimota Mile 7 Police Station to lodge a complaint but unfortunately for her, the complainant and the husband were already at the charge office. The police, after listening to the narrations from both sides, arrested the accused person and charged her with the offence.
