Im Sorry, Ras Mubarak Tells Prez Mills

An outspoken youth activist of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and an aspiring Member of Parliament for Ablekuma North Constituency, Mohammed Abdulai Mobarak alias Ras Mubarak, has apologized to President John Mills for vowing to derail his (Mills) chances in the 2012 General Elections. Ras Mubarak, shortly after meeting the president on Friday, August 19th, posted on his Facebook wall; I had an exciting meeting with President Mills this morning. I thanked him for accepting to see me at such short notice and congratulated him on his re-election as my party's leader. I also made a personal apology for saying in the past that I would do everything to make sure he didn't win 2012." In a subsequent interview with Xfm 95.1, Ras Mubarak reiterated the importance for the NDC to mend bridges and fences in order to advance the cause of Ghana. According to him, he also used the opportunity to make his intention of running for the Member of Parliament for Ablekuma North Constituency known to the president. I felt it was a duty to inform our leader of my intention to run for MP in one of our orphan constituencies, he said, adding, I also used the opportunity to renew my commitment to the party. Ras Mubarak said before there was Nana Konadus camp and Atta Mills camp, we were one NDC. We fought the NPP as a team and we beat them as a team. The Ghanaian community wants us to get it right and we cant do that when we are always at each others throat...I hope that some of my friends and comrades would come on board, after all it is the same NDC, he said. Nonetheless, Ras Mubarak said this act will in no way change his opinion as far as governance is concerned, stressing, I am a very principled person and very stubborn in terms of my sense of what is right. For me, as long as issues affecting Ghanaian families persist, I will express my opinion, but not in a manner that will do bodily harm to the NDC.
