The Minority Leader of Parliament, Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, has once again reiterated the Minority�s position on the controversial STX housing deal, saying the minority will have nothing more to do with the deal. According to him, if the current developments are anything to go by then the STX deal has fallen flat and must be quickly abrogated by the government to save the government and country further embarrassment. The current brouhaha on the controversial STX housing deal started on Thursday August 18 after news broke that the Ghanaian partners represented by B.K Asamoah have been sacked by their Korean counterparts. Mr B.K Asamoah who is the CEO of STX Engineering and Construction (Ghana) has since denied the story. A release on Friday August 19, indicated that STX Engineering and Construction Limited have rather sacked their Korean counterparts and that they are no more partners. Speaking to Citi News, Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, MP for Suame, argued that due to the breakdown of the partnership between the two companies the deal cannot hold and must be brought to Parliament for proper scrutiny. �Without STX Korea there cannot be any STX Ghana. What it means is that the agreement that was approved by Parliament can no longer stand because it came with the two parties as the partners to engage in the construction of the facility�. Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Works and Housing, David Tetteh Asumming, says he suspects some persons who want to sabotage the Ghana National Housing Project to be the brains behind the current troubles in STX Engineering and construction ltd. He has however called for a cease fire between the Ghanaians and their Korean partners as he prepares to convene the parliamentary select committee to look into the raging issue.
