William Amamoo Suspended By Floriana For Breach Of Contract

Ghana international goalkeeper William Amamoo has been suspended for 28 days by his Maltese side Floriana for refusing to play in last weeks Super Cup match, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal. The 26-year-old cited personal reasons for refusing to turn up for the side which suffered a 3-0 defeat to Valleta on Tuesday. He joined the club in last month by signing a one-year-deal to aid their Uefa Europa League campaign. After careful evaluation of the facts, the player was deemed to be in breach of the contract that he signed with Floriana FC, Mark Camilleri, Floriana media officer, said. The Malta Football Association has been informed about the decision. Amamoo has decided not to contest the clubs decision to punish him for breach of contract. I will not contest the clubs decision in full respect for the club and its supporters, he said. He denied speculations about his impending transfer to a Turkish side. I will honour my contract with Floriana since it is a club with rich history. Throughout my career, I always played for these types of teams, he explained. Besides that, the club president Johann Said is a real gentleman and he is like a brother to me. The club is informed about interest from Turkish sides but here we are talking about the 2012/2013 season, he added. Amamoo is yet to realize his full potential despite winning Goalkeeper of the Year award three times in different European leagues. He started his career in his homeland before playing in Romania, Hungary, Egypt and Sweden.
