Couple Conspire To Defile Girl, 15

A married woman, Florence Kwaw, 28, has beckoned trouble to herself and her husband, Vincent Ahiamadzi, by conniving with him to defile a 15-year-old school girl at Mankomeda, near Papase Number Two. Kwaw reportedly invited the girl into their room and left after Ahiamadzi had earlier told her (Kwaw) of his admiration and love for the pupil whose mother, with whom they share the same compound, was then away from home. Consequently, Ahiamadzi, 23, has been handed an eight-year jail sentence with hard labour by the Agona Swedru Circuit Court, presided over by Mr. N. K. E. Osam, while Kwaw is on remand in prison custody until September 2. Ahiamadzi was convicted on his own plea of guilty, whereas Kwaw pleaded not guilty to the charges of defilement and abetment of crime. Chief Inspector Ivy Agadia informed the court that Ahiamadzi and Kwaw are a married couple living in the same compound house with their victim and her parents at Mankomeda, near Papase No. 2 at the Mankrong area of the Central Region. Ms Agadia stated that Ahiamadzi had been telling his wife that he fancied the 15-year-old and asked the wife to go and call her (victim) for him when her parents were away from home. So Kwaw obliged and left their room after bringing the girl in, said the prosecutor, adding that Ahiamadzi then forcibly slept with the girl and warned her not to disclose it to anyone. She said the victim, however, felt severe pains after the act and told her mother about the ordeal. He mother rushed to the police station with a report. Ms Agadia said a medical report form issued by the police for her to attend hospital later showed that the girl had indeed been defiled. The police subsequently arrested the couple.
