Sir John Suspects An Umbrella In Prof. Frimpong Boatengs Dismissal

Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie aka Sir John, General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), says he suspects foul play in the dismissal of Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng. Prof. Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng was sacked as per a letter signed by the sector minister, Joseph Yieleh Chireh on Thursday, August 25th and copied to the President, Prof J.E.A. Mills, the Chief of Staff, John Henry Martey Newman and the Deputy Minister of Health, Rojo Mettle Nunoo. His dismissal takes immediate effect. But speaking in an interview with Shamima Muslim on Citi Eye Witness News, Sir John said: if you have somebody who is a Director of a Centre and assuming for the purpose of argument he has another job and that he is leaving, you dont write a termination letter to the person saying that the termination is with an immediate effectwe believe there is more to it than meets the eye...I can tell you that hes been given the sack because of his association with the New Patriotic Partythat is why hes been given the sack He should have been given some time to hand over. You dont tell a Head of Department to leave immediately without handing over, he argued. Some members of the ruling National Democratic Congress have accused the NPP of simply trying to make political capital out of the renowned surgeons dismissal. However, Sir John believes the NDC have brought it upon themselves. We dont share that view at allI know that no condition is permanent but this does not give way to the government to play politics with everything and anything in this country. I think that this issue is shameful and government should bow its head in shame, he added.
