Peacefmonline.com can confirm that the Central Regional Police has arrested a Nigerian couple suspected of dealing in human parts. The arrest was effected on Wednesday, August 31st. They are residents of Amosima in the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese district of the Central Region. A large crowd stormed the new ultra-modern Kotokuraba Market Police station in Cape Coast on Thursday to catch a glimpse of the couple, who are the first case to be registered after its inauguration. Alhaji Alfa Rasheed Bello, 42 years, believed to be a Spiritualist, and his wife, Fauziatu Bello, 37 are said to be notable figures within Cape Coast and its environs. At a press conference to brief the media on the activities of the police, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Stephen Andoh Kwofie, Central Regional Police Commander said the police had information that all kinds of people, including suspected criminals troop in daily to a house at Amosima near Moree. He said the police in this regard, mounted surveillance on the house, which belonged to Bello, a known herbalist in the area and made a sudden swoop last night, leading to the discovery of a container with a repugnant stench of which Fauzatu attempted to flush its contents but the police prevented her. The Police Commander said when the content was checked human parts, including a head, arms and limbs were found in it, while a Ghanaian and a Nigerian voters� ID cards, bearing Rasheed Bello�s name was also found in their rooms and the two were arrested. DCOP Kwofie said the police was yet to ascertain whether two children found in the house were the couple�s wards. Earlier, the Police station was inaugurated amidst fanfare during which Mr Anthony Egyir Aikins, the Mayor of Cape Coast said it would help minimize the crime rate in the market area. The Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly funded the project worth GHC 95,000 with proceeds from its internally generated funds. He noted that the project was significant due to the strategic position of the ancient city, as tourists attraction centre, adding that, the upsurge of crime at the market area has became a matter of great concern to the Assembly. The station had been supplied with office equipment and furniture. The Assembly in addition handed over a Mazda pick-up to the police and pledged to supply 20 gallons of fuel weekly to enhance the operations of the police in the area. He urged the public to pay their taxes promptly to ensure more development projects. DCOP Kwofie urged the public not to frustrate the work of the police with false accusations but rather cooperate with it and assist with reliable information to enable it to step up its activities..
