Sekou's Exit Is Good Riddance - NDC

The National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress has described the exit of Sekou Nkrumah as good riddance to the party. Mr. Yaw Boateng Gyan in an interview with Citi News dispelled fears that the resignation of Dr. Sekou Nkrumah from the party could spark a mass exodus of former CPP members who have found refuge in the NDC because of the distrust they had for former CPP leaders. Dr. Sekou Nkrumah, son of Ghanas first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, announced his resignation from the NDC today on the Citi Breakfast Show saying that his continuous stay in the NDC would be a stumbling block to her sisters progress. He categorically stated that his decision to resign from the NDC is not to support the CPP under the leadership of his sister Samia Nkrumah but it became imminent because his role in the NDC had become insignificant. However, speaking to Citi News, the National Organizer of the NDC, Yaw Boateng Gyan said Sekou Nkrumah was never an official member of the NDC. He stated that Sekou Nkrumahs exit from the party would not affect the NDC in any way since his contribution to the party was inconsequential. I dont think that Sekou Nkrumahs resignation from the NDC would affect us in any way. Officially, we dont even know whether he is a card bearing member of the NDC. If you say someone is a member then that person is a card bearing member of the party. He came to say verbally that he was a member and went round with us during the campaign time so that is all the role that he played. Yaw Boateng Gyan added that Dr. Sekou Nkrumah failed to perform when he was given the opportunity by the Mills administration hence his dismissal as coordinator of the National Youth Council. We thought that as a young man, we should bring him up but he wasnt performing and he was given the boot at the end of the day. "His departure will not affect the us in any way because he has not been part of the our organizational structure in anyway.
