I Wont Fault Mills - Ex-President Kufuor

Former President, John Agyekum Kufuor says he would not criticize the Mills led administration for recognizing the rebel led Libya National Transitional Council (NTC) as the legitimate authority of that country. He said with the experience garnered over the years in international affairs during his tenure as president, it will be erroneous to for him to condemn the NDC government for recognizing the NTC of Libya. According to the one-time chairman of the African Union, although the AU as a body has not recognized the Libyan rebel group, he will not fault any nation for doing so. His comments come days after the NDC administration issued a press release to indicate its recognition of the Libyan National Transitional Council. Speaking to Journalists on the sidelines of a meeting with executives of the Ghana Union of Polytechnic Students at his residence on Tuesday, ex President Kufuor said I have been in Government and governments tend to have access to information, sources of which would not be known to the public so if the government in its wisdom has taken some position well I leave it at that. As former AU chairman, I would not go out criticizing the government on this particular matter now. AU is a body of about 53 nations and I would still respect the individual nations on this issue. The Former President also cautioned journalists on the over reliance on the latest diplomatic cables leaked by whistleblower website Wikileaks calling for an immediate caveat on Wikileaks. He said I am a lawyer by profession and you have to be careful in your uses of hearsay. There should be a big caveat on Wikileaks.
