What CPP Members Should Do

For the CPP to be recognized as the third major political party and possibly win power in the near future, then its members must redefine the CPP ideology and first of all believe in it themselves so they can get others to share in their belief. It is a known fact that most CPP activists align themselves to the NDC and the NPP for reasons best known to them. Such people mustbbe booted out of the partys leadership positions for they have nothing to offer the CPP. The newly elected party executives including all members of the party must throw their weight behind Samia to enable her to execute her vision for the party to give it a new look. Samia as a role module: Women in Ghana have in the past been relegated to the background for far too long in the countrys political landscape and as a result, they struggled for bigger positions within their various political parties. Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, Former First Lady broke the deadlock by being the first woman to contest a sitting President and also the first woman to have contested the flagbearer position of a major political party. She however lost to President John Evans Atta Mills amidst all sort of intimidations. Samia, being a woman herself and witnessing the kind of challenges the Former First Lady and her supporters went through in their campaign was still not deterred by that but rather went ahead and campaigned with determination to achieve her ambition. In fact, it was the thought of many, including this writer, that Samia would have rescinded her decision to contest the Chairmanship position of the party, but she persevered and went ahead to contest and eventually won. Samia shot up to the countrys political limelight recently when she won the Jomoro seat and moving on to become the leader of her Party,. This is the kind of boldness our Ghanaian women politicians would need to be able to wrestle power from their male counterparts and make an impact in the governance of this country. Women! It is time to stand up on your feet and say yes we can for we need you to lead the war against economic slavery, poverty and underdevelopment. For Ms. Christiana Samia Yaba Nkrumah, one cannot but wish her well in her new position. The CPP must grow to win power and Samia can do it. May God give you the strength and support in your quest to contribute to the growth of the CPP and the growth of democracy in Ghana.
