Over 30 prospective students who reported as freshers at the Sefwui-Wiawso Health Assistants Training School received the shock of their lives when they were told that their admission letters were fake. A clerk at the office of the principal is said to have admitted conniving with his accomplices to steal copies of the unsigned admission letters, forge the signature of the principal and issue them to unsuspecting students for charges ranging between GH�800 and GH� 1 ,000. The clerk, Prince Kofi Boateng, and one Albert Kobbi-Sam have been arrested, while a third accomplice, one Nana Owusu, alleged to be the master brain behind the crime, is currently at large. Interestingly, many of those who were issued with the fake admission letters had attended the interview for admission but had been disqualified because they did not meet the requirements. The suspects also generated fake students� numbers for their victims and gave the bank account numbers of the school into which non-refundable admission fees were paid. According to the Sefwi-Wiawso District Commander of Police, DSP Ben Ezuah, some of the victims told the police that a few days after the interview, the suspects met them in Kumasi and Sefwi-Wiawso to give them admission letters, after they (the victims) had paid amounts ranging from GH�800 to GH� 1,000 to the suspects for their services. According to him, the principal reported the case to the police after he had detected that some of the admission letters of the students were fake. Meanwhile, the two suspects have been processed for court.
