Ghana defender Jonathan Mensah finally made his French Ligue 1 debut for Evian Thonon Gaillard on Wednesday evening. Mensah who had warmed the bench in all six previous league matches was named in central defence as a ten-man Evian lost 2-0 to bottom-placed Olympique Marseille. The 20-year-old moved from Italian side Udinese this summer ostensibly for more playing time but that seems to be backfiring. Mensah lasted the entire duration of the match and compatriot midfielder Rabiu Mohammed was introduced in the 66th minute. Marseille who recorded their first win in seven Ligue 1 games needed a Loic Remy brace to take points. Andre Ayew started the match until he was replaced by his younger brother Jordan in the 72nd minute.
