RLG Communications To Employ 30,000 People

RLG Communications, a locally-based ICT company, has announced that it would employ 30,000 people by end of 2012. Mr Samuel Kwasi Fletcher, the Corporate Affairs Manager of the company, said this in Sekondi, during the presentation of laptops to the Korsah Complex Junior High School. He said the computers would help facilitate the study of ICT among the Junior High School pupils, adding that there is a global revolution in ICT and called on everyone to make the effort to be ICT literate. The company also presented certificates to some teachers who had undergone ICT training with the rlg Institute of Technology under the auspices of the Ministry of Education. He said under the initiative 4,500 teachers nationwide would benefit from practical training and experience with ICT applications, adding that 310 teachers had been trained so far. He said the donation of the laptops forms part of the Mathematics, Science and Technology (MASTES) programme initiated by the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology to promote the teaching and learning of science. Mr Fletcher said being a key private sector partner in the initiative, rlg Communication is presenting 1,500 laptops nationwide to assist in the implementation of the �Better Ghana Agenda� ICT project initiated by the government. He expressed the hope that the beneficiaries would put the laptops into good use and help make them more effective in their academic work. He said the company would assist in providing solar panels to schools that did not have access to electricity to ensure efficient and effective use of the devices. Nana Kofi Mbeah, Director of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Education Directorate, said the donation had come at an opportune time and advised the beneficiaries to take good care of the devices in order for them to last for a long time.
