Son Jailed For Threatening To Kill Mother

A Tarkwa circuit court has sentenced Ebenezer Smart Archer, 25, an illegal gold digger, to 18 months imprisonment in hard labor for threatening to kill his mother, Mad Grace Yenzu. In addition, the court fined Ebenezer S. Archer GHc 240 or in default 6 months imprisonment in hard labor for being in possession of Indian hemp. He pleaded guilty to both charges. Prosecuting Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah told the court presided over by Mr. Samuel Obeng Diawuo that on November 3, 2010 Archer visited his mother at Krutown in Prestea where she lived to give her a wrist watch as a gift but the mother rejected it with the excuse that she was not interested in small watches. Detective Amponsh said the convict was offended that his mother had rejected the gift and threatened that her blood would flow. The mother did not take the threat serious but was hinted by people that the son had a knife on him. The mother organized people who searched him and found a bread knife on him. Detective Amponsah said Archer was escorted to the Prestea Police Station and when he was searched Indian hemp was found in his bag.
