Kwesi Ahwoi Presents 80 Computers To Schools

Mr Kwesi Ahwoi, Minister for Food and Agriculture has presented 80 computers and accessories to four Senior High Schools in the Agona West Municipality and Agona East District of the Central Region. The schools are Swedru School of Business (SWESBUS), Swedru Senior High School (SWECO), Nyakrom Secondary Technical School and Nsaba Presbyterian Senior High School. Mr Ahwoi said the donation formed part of the President John Evans Atta Mills�s government Better Ghana Agenda policy to enhance Information Communication Technology (ICT) learning at the Senior High schools. He said the computers were brought from the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communication (GIFEC) under the Ministry of Communication to assist ICT studies. Mr Ahwoi who is also Parliamentary Aspirant for Agona East Constituency of the National Democratic Congress, said another donation would soon be made to some Junior High Schools in the two Districts. He called on the students to use the internet facility at their disposal to learn adding that the world was moving fast from paper work to computer hence the need for the government to come out with the idea of establishing ITC centres in educational institutions. Mr Mike Tekyi, Technical Manager of GIFEC, said beneficial schools would receive free one year subscription for services such as internet, projectors, scanners and printers. He appealed to the authorities of the beneficial schools to take good care of the computers and also let them serve the purpose for which they were donated. Mr Francis Obeng-Ampadu, Agona West Municipal Director of Education praised the Minister for the donation and promised the directorate would supervise the using of the computers for the benefit of the students in the area.
