Asiedu Nketia Buys 370,00 UK Mansion...NDC UK Denies Story

The UK & Ireland Chapter of the ruling National Democratic Congress has described as untruth claims that the partys General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has acquired a 370,000 mansion in the United Kingdom. The claim was made by the UK based Forum for Probity and Accountability and concerned supporters of the NDC, who have appealed to President Mills and the leadership of the ruling party to investigate the purchase of a five bedroom house in Perivale, an area west of London by the General Secretary of our party, Mr Johnson Aseidu Nketia who is currently in London attending the opposition Labour Party Conference in Liverpool. Mr Nketiah and other senior members of the ruling party have returned home Tuesday after taking part in the Labour Party Conference. According to a statement signed by Philip Mensah Dzakpasu and Alex K. Bediako one of the reasons he [Asiedu Nketiah] really came to the UK was to finalise payment and secure the keys to the house, which has a very large garden. In calling for a probe into the alleged deal, the group noted: at a time that our party is preparing for parliamentary elections and seeking funding to complete projects and fulfil our Better Ghana agenda, it is baffling that our general secretary to spend this huge some of money to pay for a house in the UK. What message is he sending to party members and Ghanaians? More often than not Ghanaians especially party members in the UK are struggling to keep their jobs due to the recession in this country. We have hundreds of our members who are not even working, yet they attend meetings, pay their dues are sometimes even expected to go and represent the party on radio. We have thousands of party members back home who are facing serious challenges, the statement added. The statement continued: Some are expected to go and sacrifice their lives again to defend this party and campaign for our leader President Mills in 2012 because they love the party, yet our general secretary, who even did not have the courtesy to even hold a meeting to meet some of us to discuss various concerns we have has time to meet estate agents and property developers! How sad we are tired of being made fools of in this party. We have been in power for almost three years now and we are being told to wait, how long can this go on when others are stuffing their cheeks like pigs? But a statement signed by Alex Seshie-Vanderpuije, Public Relations Officer of NDC UK & Ireland Chapter, has rubbished the allegations, describing it as calculated to tarnish his [Nketiahs] hard won reputation. It is also very disturbing to note that the writer of the article in question chose to use the name of a member of the Chapter's Public Relations sub-committee - Alex K. Bediako - to sign off as one of the authors of the said article in order to tarnish his reputation, the statement claimed. It added: It is only cowards and weak minded persons who do not have the penchant to focus on relevant issues when it comes to topical discussions would indulge themselves in such shameful acts. Alex will not be moved or intimidated and would continue to defend the course of the NDC at all levels. We know the identity of the person responsible for this warp minded article and whose name we would patiently hold back from publishing for now.
