Member of Parliament for Lawra-Nandom assists students

Mr Ambrose Dery, Member of Parliament for Lawra-Nandom, is providing financial assistance for more than 120 students in various tertiary institutions from his share of the common fund this year. The first batch of about 60 beneficiaries would receive their imbursement soon while processing of the second batch documents is ongoing. Mr Dery made this known in a speech read on his behalf during the Kob-bine Festival celebration of the chiefs and people of the Lawra Traditional Area at Lawra on Saturday. He said he had been using his share of the common fund to support poor and needy students in the area to help improve the human resource base and ensure that they contributed to national development. He said from January to date more than 237 students and individuals had received financial assistance totalling 63,803.00 Ghana cedis. On development, Mr Dery said he had funded the construction of six classroom blocks at Nanyaare and Nabugan while two kindergartens have also been completed at Meto Yirpaala and Pufion Baagan. A six classroom block and a kindergarten have also been awarded for construction at Nandompee and Goziri respectively. Mr Dery commended the Lawra District Security Committee, the District Police Command and Traditional Authorities for ensuring peace in the communities. He called for concerted efforts to deal with armed robbery and other social vices and urged the people to bury their political differences and pool resources to complement government�s development efforts.
