An alleged illicit affair between a 32-year-old lady and her secret boyfriend ended on a tragic note late Saturday when a 60-year old �husband� of the lady, suspecting infidelity, hacked her to death. Nicholas Adu, 60, a trader at Galelea market near Kasoa, currently in the grips of the Weija District Police command pending trial, was said to have stabbed Abena Appiah to death after suspecting her of flirting with another man. The incident took place at Iron City near Kasoa where the victim, Abena Appiah of Assin Fosu, allegedly visited her lover on Saturday October 22, 2011. Some neigbours who saw the victim, Abena, lying in a pool of blood, alerted a police patrol team in the area. After killing Abena, the suspect was alleged to have run to meet the police for fear that he might be lynched by the aggrieved neighbours. The Commander of Weija District Police, ASP Kwame Asare, told Daily Guide that the victim visited her lover to tidy up his house that fateful day. In the process, a disagreement ensued between them, following which the suspect allegedly stabbed the victim with a kitchen knife in the stomach. For fear that he might be lynched by some irate youth who heard the woman�s shout for help and trooped to the area, the 60-year man fled the scene. A police patrol team on duty who chanced upon the scene arrested suspect Nicholas Adu and handed him over to the Weija District Police. Meanwhile, Nicholas Adu, a father of six, has told Daily Guide that he had been in a relationship with the victim, Abena Appiah, for some years now. �A day before her death, I went to Abena�s work place to pick her up to the salon. The following day, I requested that she comes to my house to clean the place. �Around 7.00pm, when my lover came to my house, she refused to clean the room with the excuse that she was visiting her new lover. �This brought a misunderstanding between us and as a result she used a metallic object to hit my head. �Unintentionally, I pulled her down where the metallic object was, which turned out to be a knife, and it stabbed her in the stomach,� he narrated. The body of Abena has since been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue awaiting autopsy.
