New Nkrumahist Party In The Offing

A senior member of the National Executive Council of the Peoples National Convention (PNC) Mike Mensah-Bonsu has declared his intention to set up another Nkrumahist party to champion the cause of Ghanas first president, Dr Kwame Nkrumah. Dr. Mensah-Bonsu who has officially announced his resignation from the PNC told Citi News the current internal wrangling in the party is making it difficult for him to contribute meaningfully to the success of the party and the country at large. I have actually waited a long time hoping that things would get better so that I would not have to resign but then I saw that things were going the opposite way. I go into a party with the hope of contributing to the development of the party but if I see that I am only wasting my time then it is better to pull out. The former chairman of the PNC , in 2009, had threatened to resign if his party refused to join the Convention Peoples Party. Dr. Mensah-Bonsus resignation comes a few weeks before the PNC congress which will take place at Sunyani in the Brong-Ahafo region, from the 25th to the 27th in November this year. "I will form a new Nkrumahist party. I am in negotiations with the Electoral Commission. I already have a name and all. He disclosed. Dr. Mensah-Bonsu described Edward Mahamas decision to seek the partys flagbearer slot for a 5th time as mind boggling.
