Fifi Kwetey's Advice To The Youth

Mr. Fifi Kwetey, Deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Planning on Wednesday charged the youth of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to understand the principles of the party and rise above sectionalism. He said principles were based on the truth which should abide in the party forever. The Deputy Minister said this at the handing over and induction ceremony of eight new executives of the Tertiary Education Institution Network (TEIN) of the NDC at the University of Ghana City Campus in Accra on the theme, "The role of the youth in the 2012 victory�. The new executive were Abel Nii Abbey, President, David Kumi , Secretary Prince Otabil, Deputy Secretary, Maruf Alhassan , Organiser, Sally Sika,Treasurer, Charlotte Owusu, Women's Organiser and Bashiru Dauda, Propaganda officer, with Addul Ramman Ahamid as an executive member. Mr. Kwettey said it was necessary to have a long term vision and fight for principles and not personality and that for the party to move forward the youth must understand its ideology. He noted that if the party could achieve unity, it would depend on the fundamental values of the party and therefore the motive for joining the party must be pure. Mr.Kwetey appealed to the youth not to be cowards but stand out and tell the truth no matter the cost. Mr Chris Ackummey, member of the Legal Committee of the NDC cautioned the youth not to allow themselves to be stampeded but to preach peace and harmony and show love and togetherness during the elections. Nii Djanmah Vanderpuye, Presidential Aid representing the Greater Accra Minister, charged the youth to initiate their own enterprises and not depend on white collar jobs to be provided by government. Ruth Dela Seddoh, outgoing President of TEIN urged the party to unite and pay attention to the youth wing since it would lead the road to victory. �If there is no peace there would not be victory in 2012� she added. Nii Abbey, newly appointed President called on the youth to change their attitude and work hard to ensure good governance.
