Amakye Dede On Warpath

The highlife music icon, Abrantie Amakye Dede, has warned that the people of Agogo would take the law into their own hands and defend themselves, if National Security fails to intervene in the rampant killing of innocent citizens of the town by the Fulani herdsmen operating in the area. According to the ace musician, who is also a prominent citizen of Agogo, his people are law-abiding citizens who do not have any history of violence, but if they are pushed to the wall, they would have no option than to use every available means to defend themselves. Speaking in an interview with The Chronicle newspaper yesterday, Amakye Dede noted that when the prominent citizens of Agogo met National Security, it was agreed that the Fulanis and their cattle should leave the area within two weeks. He regretted that before the two weeks deadline could elapse, the same Fulani men had reportedly shot and wounded two farmers. The celebrated musician appealed to the government to follow the road map drawn to ensure peace in the area, and that the nomads must not be allowed to stay and destroy farmlands beyond the two week deadline, which falls today. He made reference to another music icon, Nana Kwame Ampadus song that se kuku kuku no gyayea, kike kike no nso begyae (if the initial action ceases, the counter action would also cease), and noted that the people of Agogo would have nothing to say if the Fulani stop killing them, and live in the area peacefully.
