Pharmacists Declare Nationwide Strike

The Government pharmacists have begun an indefinite strike today to express displeasure at the pace of work regarding their migration unto the Single Spine Salary Structure. They claim that the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission is failing to address concerns relating to distortions in the salaries of health professionals. After an emergency meeting was held, a leading member of the Government and Hospital Pharmacists Association, Raymond Tettey, told Citi News, that the FWSC has not been truthful with them. Our position is clear; commitment to our negotiations has been breached by the fair wages and salaries commission, so we want that commitment. Whatever they are doing, they should do it seriously. Mr. Raymond added. The pharmacists had issued a threat to embark on strike a couple of weeks ago but rescinded that decision following discussions with the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission.
