A Deputy Communications Director of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is accusing the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) government of reneging on its campaign promises of delivering a Better Ghana, stressing that the only consistent thing about the NDC administration is their inconsistencies in keeping their electoral promises. Sammy Awuku is also indicting the NDC government of failing to among other things offer adequate protection to the citizenry and also provide better working conditions for public workers as promised in their manifesto. �They have failed in delivering all their promises and are intentionally suffering from deliberate memory lose � they have intentionally forgotten every promise they made to Ghanaians,� he said. Sammy Awuku describes as disappointing the Mills� administration slothfulness in addressing issues pertaining to the health sector, which he sarcastically claims has culminated in some workers in that sector �embarking on strikes in shifts�. According to him, the recent strike action by members of the Government and Hospital Pharmacists Association (GHOSPA) could have been averted if the government had been proactive enough after the group issued a statement of its intended action during the height of the strike action by the Ghana Medical Association (GMA). GHOSPA began an indefinite strike on Monday as a sign of displeasure at the pace of work regarding their migration unto the Single Spine Salary Structure, claiming that �the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) is failing to address concerns relating to distortions in the salaries of health professionals�. Their strike follows earlier warnings to lay down their tools if government does not intervene and respond swiftly to their concerns. The group however called off their strike on Wednesday, after a swift meeting between members of the Pharmacists Association, the Minister of Health, other state Ministers and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission to solve the impasse.
