Okudzeto Ablakwa: I Wont Apologise...

A deputy Minister of Information, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has welcomed the planned demonstration against him and his colleague Baba Jamal by the Andani youth saying every citizen has the right to demonstrate once it is in line with the Public Order Act. His comments came after some Andani youth in Ashaiman threatened to demonstrate on November 25, if the two deputy information ministers do not render an unqualified apology to the Andani family in Dagbon. The family at a meeting in Ashaiman resolved to march to the Ministry of Information on the said date to deal with the two deputy ministers over their derogatory remarks to the Andani family. The two incurred the wrath of the Andani family in Dagbon after they were reported to have said that the Atta Mills-led government would not succumb to pressure from them to arrest the killers of the late Ya-Naa Yakubu Andani II. Alfa Issah Maligu-Naa, spokesperson for the Ashaiman Andani Youth warned that the family will never relax on their request for justice until the ruling NDC government fulfilled its 2008 campaign promise to the people of Dagbon. However, speaking on the Citi Eyewitness News on Thursday, Mr. Ablakwa stated that there is no need to render an apology to the Andani youth since he made no disparaging utterance against them. What really are they saying their problem with me is because all those who heard me know that I never made any derogatory remarks about the Andani Youth group, Ablakwa stated. He added: If you apologise then it means that you did something wrong or you said something and I honestly do not know where this is coming from. It is the right of people to demonstrate once they are following the Public Order Act, I cannot prevent anybody from demonstrating."
