Harrison Afful: Ghana Can Win The 2012 Africa Cup Of Nations Title

Ghana defender Harrison Afful told Goal.com that he believes the time has come for his west African country to add to their continental trophy cabinet. The Esperance player said that the Black Stars are well positioned to win their fifth African title come the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations, judging from their output during the qualification campaign. The Black Stars have upped their performance over the years, Afful said. Clearly, Ghana are favourites for the next tournament and it will take a little bit of effort to make that real. We only need to make sure the praises do not get over our heads. We just need to focus and the cup is ours. Afful, who scored the only goal in the 2011 Caf Champions League final to earn Esperance the trophy after 17 years, said he is in no rush to be recalled into the national team. He believes the right time will come, and judging from his form at club level, the national team handlers will likely consider giving him a call-up in the near future. There are hundreds of players out there and everyone is fighting to be in the national jersey. Its a matter of time; no rush. If the coach feels my time is due he will surely come for me. Im just focusing on my career and the rest is left with the Ghana authorities to decide. Scoring in the Champions League final adds to my advantage, but thats gone. Its now time to look into the future. I know that the Black Stars' time will come. God is the best to judge and decide. Lets not rush things, the former Asante Kotoko player said.
