Soldiers Attack Police Officers In Tamale

Some military officers in Tamale in the Northern region of Ghana have reportedly attacked some police personnel in the metropolis for detaining one of their colleagues early this week. According to reports reaching Citi News, the soldiers carried out the reprisal attack today, Friday, after police officers directing traffic in the metropolis arrested and detained a soldier for misconduct and breaking traffic regulations. At least two of the police officers, according to eye witnesses� account have sustained serious injuries and have been rushed to the Tamale regional hospital for treatment. A resident of Tamale, who gave his name as Yaya told Citi News that police officers fired warning shots during the uproar to ward off the soldiers. According to him, more police officers were called in as reinforcement as the melee exacerbated, but added that the soldiers had already left before the additional police force arrived.
