Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, the Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, has reiterated the government�s commitment to fulfill its campaign promises. He said considering the performance of the government since 2009, it was clear that it had done well especially in education through the introduction of numerous social interventions such as the increase in capitation grant, the supply of free school uniforms and exercise books among others. Mr Ofosu-Ampofo therefore appealed to Ghanaians to continue to have confidence in the government led by President John Evans Atta Mills to implement the better Ghana agenda to its fullest. He gave the assurance at the 50th anniversary celebration of Mpraeso Senior High School (MPASS) at Mpraeso in the Eastern Region over the weekend. The theme for the celebration was �MPASS at 50; providing quality education for socio-economic development.� The celebration brought together both current and old students as well as parents and other stakeholders who had contributed towards the growth of the school. Mr Ofosu-Ampofo said the government in the recent budget statement for 2012 was emphasizing infrastructure development as a key to growth and employment generation. He said quality education was therefore the key to providing infrastructure for socio-economic development of the people and that the government would not relent in its efforts to ensure that the country achieved that. Mr Ofosu-Ampofo said the government was committed to providing quality education to every institutions of learning in order to produce skills required to propel the development of the country to the highest level. He said the government was focusing access to participation in education and training at all levels, bridging gender gaps in access to education, improving quality of teaching and learning, improving efficiency in the delivery of education services and promoting science and technology education at all levels with particular attention to the increase in the participation of girls. Mr Ofosu-Ampofo later presented 50 computers and accessories to the school to enhance teaching and learning of Information Communication Technology (ICT).
