The Northern region is expected to experience a keen contest when it comes to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primary in constituencies where there are sitting Members of Parliament.
citifmonline. com is reliably informed that there has been a mad rush for the nomination forms. There are even reports of shortage of the forms in some constituencies including Bunkpurugu/Yunyoo, Sawla/Tuna Kalba and Kpandai.
Alhaji Umar Yussif Alhassan, NDC northern regional secretary confirmed this to citifmonline. com and anticipated a keen contest during the primary.
He attributed the situation to the NDC�s strong presence in the northern region. �It appears to me that the contest is going to be keen in this part of our country and one of the things that attribute to this keenness is because our party is very strong in this region,� he said.
�With some of the seats, as soon as you are elected a parliamentary candidate, there is the presumption that you are already in Parliament and that to a large extent accounts for the keenness of this contest,� Alhaji Alhassan hinted.
He said all the forms for the Tamale Central constituency have been exhausted whereas only two people had so far picked that of the Tamale north constituency.
According to him, only the Tamale South MP and also the Minister for Communication, Haruna Iddrisu had picked form at the time of speaking to citifmonline. com.
