'Its Sad Ken Agyapong Is MP'

The Member of Parliament for South Tongu, Koblah Mensah Woyome, has come to the strong defense of his brother, Alfred Woyome, who came under severe attacks by NPP MP Kennedy Agyapong. The Assin North MP has vowed to do all he can to ensure Mr. Woyome is jailed for receiving a whopping GhC 42 million from the government as compensation. The Chronicle newspaper published on Wednesday that an Accra High Court has ordered the State to settle Mr. Woyome with the said amount as compensation for loses he suffered because of being denied a bid he won to build stadia prior to the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations. Mr. Woyome is said to have put together a consortium of financiers and raised the money needed for the projects only to be denied the project later under the erstwhile NPP regime. Hon. Agyapong has since accused Mr. Woyome of dishonesty and benefitting for no work done. He also accused the Attorney General for not appealing against the ruling. But Mr. Woyomes brother told Citi News he is surprised at the ignorance exhibited by the legislator, adding that Mr. Woyome will be responding in full to all the allegations when he returns from abroad. He said: As a Member of Parliament, Im so sad that he would be referred to as one of us and the way he is talking shows he is completely not informed and it is completely misleading. Alfred is coming and Im sure he is going to speak to the issues and let the whole public understand what went on during the bidding process, how he came about the consortium, all of that.
