The Face Behind UFP For 2012

A popular footwear dealer in Kumasi, Akwasi Addae aka �Odike� will contest astute politicians like Nana Akufo-Addo and President Atta Mills in the 2012 presidential polls on the ticket of United Front Party (UFP.) He was elected unopposed as the presidential candidate of the new political party at the party�s national congress, supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC) at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi last Saturday. Addressing party members after he was declared the presidential candidate of the party, Odike said the time has come for Ghanaians to reject lawyers and entrust the management of the country into the hands of businessmen. He said lawyer presidents were needed at the onset of the democratic rule but now that the country�s democracy has gained roots a businessman, who would produce jobs and wealth, should be elected as president. The UFP presidential candidate noted that he would rely on his 31-year experience in business to create wealth for the people if elected as president of the country in 2012. Odike said his administration would create jobs for the unemployed vibrant youth in the country through the establishment of factories, stressing that he would put money into the pockets of the people. According to him, it is unacceptable and disheartening to see university graduates roam the streets in search of non-existing jobs, assuring that jobs would be created for them during his tenure. Odike implored the electorate to reject the two leading political parties in the country, the NPP and NDC and vote for the UFP which has answers to Ghana�s problems. Most of the party members were elected unopposed, reducing the work of the EC, which simply declared sole contenders as winners. The National Chairmanship position was won by Nana Agyenim Boateng, who until joining this new political party, was a known New Patriotic Party (NPP) member who used to defend the party on radio. The First National Vice Chairmanship position was also won by Stephen Forson, Alhaji Waziri, Second National Vice Chairman, Third National Vice Chairman, Karikari Agyeman and Samuel Bekoen Owusu, General Secretary. The rest include Deputy General Secretary, Razak Kwadwo Opoku, National Organizer, Abu Saddique, Women�s Organizer, Mary Awusi, Youth Organizer, Kennedu Saku, National Treasurer, Osman Innusah and Deputy National Treasure, Grace Wereko Boateng.
