More Light Thrown On The $20million Ultra-Modern NDC Office Building

Ladies and gentlemen of the press good afternoon! Following the press statement by the Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) on the structuring of the new NDC ultra-modern headquarters, we are pleased to inform you that, nothing short of the truth would be handed down to you and most importantly Ghanaians, notwithstanding the inconsistencies in the answers from the echelons of the NDC party. It should be on record that, AFAGs quest at pursuing this advocacy is primarily to give credence to the civil societys role in our democratic dispensation. Secondly, to raise the bar of Ghanas politics a step further, especially in the areas of fighting corruption. Ladies and gentlemen, today it is the NDC, it must however be a good lesson to all other political parties. As a matter of principle, it is our fervent belief that, what is not good for the goose must not be good for the gander. In our earlier press release on this matter, the NDC failed in all attempts to discover and recover their succinct and coherent voice mastered in their propaganda gimmicks. They have, interestingly, up until now been unable to respond to basic PR tenet of an official release. Till date, ladies and gentlemen, we can among other things share with you, the conflicting stance and disposition of the governing party, just on a YES or NO answer required. It is again insightful to note that almost all the functional executives of the NDC have yet still not allayed the fears of AFAG and Ghanaians as to the ownership of the property and the source of funding especially at this time that the Corruption perception index has broken the heart of Government according to the Deputy Information Minister, Hon Okudjeto Ablakwa. THE UNPARALLELED INCONSISTENCIES Ladies and gentlemen of the press, AFAG has taken the pain to chronicle the uncharacteristic inconsistencies of the NDC and this time, the functional Executives and some leading members of the NDC who have taken rhetorical shots at the issue. Yaw Boateng Gyan (National Organiser of the NDC) on the 5th and 6th of December, evening news and kookrokoo respectively could not be categorical on a YES or NO account but conceded to the truth in relation to the statement made by the General Secretary of the NDC with additional information on a 20 acres plot of land (80) plots. Solomon Nkansah, the Deputy National Propaganda secretary on an evening political program, the platform, on Monday, 5th December 2011 conceded to the NDC ownership of the Mansion but denied the price quotation of AFAG and said it is below $5million. On Asempa FMs Ekoosi sen program, on Wednesday, 7th December 2011, the Central Regional Communication Director, Bernard Allotey- Jacobs said that the edifice was theirs. Interestingly, he later denied the ownership of the edifice after succumbing to an incessant pressure from the same top guns. Again the Deputy National Organiser of the NDC, Joshua Akamba said, the building in question belongs to the ruling NDC. He said this on Xfms morning show program on Wednesday, the 7th of December 2011. In all these developments, ladies and gentlemen, one thing is clear and with a single logical conclusion that can be drawn; AFAG and Ghanaians are still not clear with the position of the ruling NDC in relationship to ownership, sources of fund for the ultra-modern edifice and whether there is any connectivity between the Government and the construction of the edifice. We in the AFAG could have picked some comments from some of the functional executives who claimed ownership of the building and juxtapose it with the General Secretarys comment at the Sunyani congress this past July 9th to the effect that, the NDC has acquired a land for the construction of their National Headquarters and that work is at an advance stage and would be ready for occupancy in mid 2012 and conclude on that logical score, but; Our love for mother Ghana and accountability in Governance gives us the moral and the civic obligation to uncover the truth and voice out the gospel against corruption, unbridled materialism, greed and avarice within the ruling NDC party and to settle the so called bring evidence mantra of the NDC Government OUR EVIDENCE Ladies and gentlemen of the press, we are pleased to inform you, the first in the series of evidence in support of our claim for all Ghanaians to be aware of the uncaring and wicked Government whose interest is to splash money in the construction of an ultra-modern edifice which personifies profligacy and ostentation at the highest level with a whooping sum of 300billion old Ghana currency at a time that the 2009 Budget is still yawning for money in the construction of fishing harbors in James Town and Elmina, Landing site construction in Winneba, Mumford, Senya Breku, Gomoa Fetteh, and Moree in the central region as well as Keta in the Volta region. The Official Newsletter of the NDC dubbed Sunyani Congress Special edited by Kwasi Sarpong, on Page 2 captioned, State of the Party, paragraph 8 reads and I quote Two sites have been acquired for building a befitting National Headquarters. One is at Adabraka in Accra which is being developed into a four-storey edifice that will eventually serve regional uses. A 20-acre plot has been acquired and fenced off at Oyibi on the Accra-Dodowa.This is the site where a headquarters complex will be constructed to house offices, Party schools, guest houses conference centers and all other facilities required to run a modern political party like the NDC We have also made some photocopies of the documentary evidence for the Press as hard fact in support of our claim made on the 5th of December 2011. Ladies and gentlemen of the Press, we in AFAG can state that, this is the tip of an iceberg in relation to the over 300billion old Ghana Cedis ultra-modern edifice at Adabraka and at the appropriate time, all the scandalous deals from the acquisition of the Land to the current state of the project would be made known to the good people of Ghana. Thank you very much for your time and may God have mercy on mother Ghana.
