The over 2,000 homeless residents of Joma who are victims of a demolition exercise that took place over the weekend in the Ga South District demonstrated against the municipal assembly on Tuesday.
They marched from the Joma chief�s palace to the Ablekuma junction amidst drumming and chanting of war songs to register their protest.
They insist government has been unfair to them and are demanding compensation. Some of the demonstrators who shared their frustrations with Citi News said they are disappointed in the government and would continue to demonstrate until their grievances are met.
One of the protesters, Isaac Gyamfi Mensah, described the exercise as very �criminal and crazy� because they were not given prior notice.
�As a matter of fact the demolishing exercise is very crazy and criminal and that is why we are blaming the government because it was supervised by the GA South Municipal Assembly,� he said.
�We acquired the land through legal means and built our homes and even for them to notify us before demolishing everything they didn�t do that,� he fumed.
Others were of the view that government should value the cost of the structures and pay the amount.
