The first batch of graduates from the China European International Business School (CEIBS), Africa Chapter has formed an alumni association with a view to promote their alma mater on the continent and beyond. At an inaugural ceremony in Accra, eight executives of the CEIBS Alumni Association were sworn into office. They were tasked to help foster an on-going relationship between graduates, the school and students, among others. The executives include Mary Brown, President, Cynthia Pamela Addo, Vice President (Ghana), Folajimi Fadenipo, Vice President (Nigeria) and David Amoo-Osae Jnr, Organizing Secretary. The rest are Kevin Adarkwa, Treasurer with Abiodun Afinowi and Roland Acquah Steven serving as Executive council members. CEIBS was established based on a partnership between China and the European Union (EU) to promote the principles of conscientiousness, innovation and excellence. It is a world-class business school, consistently ranked among the 25 business schools in the world by the Financial Times of London. The school recently moved up seven places to the 11th position on the latest ratings. The CEIBS Africa, located at the Physicians and Surgeons College in Accra, was set up in line with a similar model of the mother school but with a curricula specifically tailored to offer training to business executives in Africa. Professor Pedro Nueno, Executive President of CEIBS, who was the special guest at the function, revealed that the alumni represent the most valuable assets and permanent members of the CEIBS family. �You, the alumni, are the pillar of the school, CEIBS is ranked among the top schools producing good products and we have good professors. You have made a huge investment and taken the best decision to make this start in Africa.� He expressed the hope that the newly-formed alumni association would promote and encourage the positive image of the institution as well as use the graduates� experiences in building the school�s curriculum. �You as alumni have to help us perform and with your help we will be the leading business school in Africa as we are already the best in China.� He urged members of the association to share among themselves ideas, adding �the strength of a network or people like this is unbelievable. That is the power of network. The president of CAAAC, Mrs. Brown indicated their readiness to increase visibility of the school and announced a series of programmes for members including a life-long learning programme aimed at keeping CEIBS alumni active in management skills to help them transfer leading management philosophies. Prof. Atuahene-Gima, Executive Director of CEIBS Africa Program, told the alumni and students that �you have got a good degree but that is just the beginning. The next effort is to put it to good use to achieve the full value.� CEIBS Alumni Association Africa Chapter is the pioneer group in Africa, which embraces all students who have undertaken the EMBA and Diploma courses at the Africa campus in Accra.
