Lydia Forson On The Go

Movie actress Lydia Forson says she hates it when shes asked what else she does apart from acting. I feel rather bad whenever I am asked that question; it looks like Ghanaians dont consider acting as a serious enough career to pursue all alone. According to Lydia Forson who has featured in movies Perfect Picture, Scorned, Run Baby Run, A Sting In A Tale and Masquerades, people dont normally ask lawyers or bankers what they do aside their job but when it comes to acting, Ghanaians are quick to ask what they do aside acting. Well, if they really want to know, I cant do anything besides acting because acting involves a lot, moving from one place to another to shoot movies, reading your lines and capturing it in your head and rehearsing several times before a movie is shot is a very tedious job she told Showbiz. According to her, there were other opportunities she could have involved herself in but she decided to be an actress. I wasnt forced into acting, it is something I have always dreamt of doing since childhood and nobody can stop me for doing that said Lydia Forson. The actress believes its about time people erased the notion that acting could only be a part-time job from their heads and see acting as serious business like any other. Asked why she has not played in another Shirley Frimpong movie since she made big waves featuring in three early movies of hers, Lydia said she has no problem with Shirley. Yes it is true I have been off screen for two years since I featured in Shirleys movies, but Shirley is not obliged to use me in all her movies. She is a movie director and has the freedom to choose whoever she thinks can play a role well in her movie. Lydia thinks Shirley probably wants to explore new talents which is why she often uses new actors in her movies. She said that for the two years that she was off screen, she was writing scripts and doing other movie-related businesses. Her debut movie, Masquerades, a hilarious family comedy that explores todays contemporary family life will premiere on December 16. In it, she plays alongside Adjetey Anang, Senanu Gbedawu, Katawire and Desmond Elliot.
