No Fresh Case Against Alfred Woyome - Solicitor

The Attorney Generals department has not filed a fresh suit against embattled National Democratic Congress (NDC) financier, Alfred Woyome, Citi News can confirm. According to solicitors of Mr. Woyome, the case being held on Thursday is a seven-month-old suit initiated by the Attorney General against their client over the settlement schedule of his judgment debt. An additional solicitor of Mr. Woyome, Mr. David Annan expressed utter surprise about what he described as propagandist twist to the whole affair. A section of the media is reporting that the A-Gs outfit has filed a fresh suit against Mr. Woyome. That information is entirely incorrect and I do not know why propagators of the information of this piece of information are [spreading it], Mr. Annan told Citi News. It is clearly untrue. He added: The A-G already has a suit filed about seven months ago at the Commercial Court. It is going to happen tomorrow (Thursday) to ascertain whether they have been able to settle for the second time. It is not as if the A-G has recently or today, yesterday or this week or last month filed a suit at the Commercial Court. Mr. Annan said the suit, which is to be heard on Thursday at the Commercial Court by Justice Barbara Ackah Ayensu arose out of the first case filed by the A-Gs department by former Justice Minister Betty Mould-Iddrisu to stay the payment of the judgment debt following the detection of certain discrepancies in the amount owed Mr. Woyome contrary to what the court had directed be paid. This matter emanated from the original suit where there was settlement. The A-G was advised to file a second writ which they did long ago and that case will be coming on tomorrow. That is where the trial judge will ascertain if the A-G has been able to settle with Alfred Woyome. Let me put on record that it is not true that the second matter was filed by Martin Amidu, it was filed by Betty Mould-Iddrisu, Mr. Annan added.
