Winners Chapel Robbed

The Music Director of Winners Chapel Ghana has been arrested for allegedly stealing proceeds from a thanksgiving harvest of the church. Justice Laryea, 41, is said to have mobilized four security men, William Adai, Isaac Ampah, Desmond Thomas, Paul Liberty and a scrap dealer known as Aminu, to break into the safe at the administrative office and steal GH�109,546 and an unspecified amount of foreign currency belonging to the church. The Crime Officer of the Kaneshie Police Station, Deputy Superintendent Samuel Naa Musah, said on Sunday, December 18, the church had its annual thanksgiving service and kept the money in a fertilizer bag at the church�s administrative block. He said the following day, a cleaner of the church detected that the main door of the administration block had been damaged and she reported it to the church authorities. According to him, the suspects used a gas cylinder to burn the door and took the money. He said police investigation revealed that Layea was seen at the administrative block in a taxi on Sunday night, after the thanksgiving service and during interrogation he admitted the offence. He said he gave his share of the booty (GH�17,240) to his uncle at Sukura. He is currently in police custody pending further investigations.
