Clergys Critique Of Governments Not Needless Intrusions - Lodonu

Most Reverend Francis Anani Lodonu, Bishop of the Ho Diocese of the Catholic Church has urged governments not to regard the clergys critique of governance issues as needless intrusions. He said neither should they (governments) and their supporters give political connotations to such commentaries. Bishop Lodonu was delivering the yuletide homily at the Sacred Heart Parish of the Roman Catholic Church at Bankoe, in Ho on Sunday. He observed with regret, the over politicization of issues in Ghana, so much that, every comment, incident or suggestion, was seen through the prism of political rivalry. Bishop Lodonu said as a result, many points, comments and suggestions made in good faith risked being spurned by governments to the detriment of national good. He said the recent point by the Catholic Bishops Conference that the Senior High School (SHS) duration reverts to four years, for example, was a genuine concern and not a political gimmick, as some people branded it. Bishop Lodonu said the educational sector in the country was facing crises that called for functional and non-partisan strategizing for solutions. He said issues on education were very important and should not be trivialized. Bishop Lodonu therefore called on Chiefs, Opinion Leaders and Civic Society Organizations to make their voices heard. Bishop Lodonu said the education system was leaving too many children stranded and prone to the lures of the criminal world.
