Ghana and Marseille striker Jordan Ayew insists he got his Ghana 2012 Africa Cup of Nations call-up on merit.
The third son of legend Abedi Pele is among the preliminary 25-man squad named by coach Goran Stevanovic for next month�s tournament.
The Marseille prodigy has put up excellent performances for the first half season for both club and country and could not be overlooked by the Serbian boss.
His call-up has drawn some criticism that because of his father�s influence in Ghana football led to his call-up.
But the 20-year-old, who will be making his Nations Cup debut if he is among the 23-man final squad, insists his form for both club and country cannot be questioned.
�I have worked very hard this six months to be part of the squad and I did a very good work for the half of the season,� the teenager told MTNFootball.com.
�The Ghanaian fans are watching the Ligue 1 and I think it is my hard work which is now paying off so I must continue like this.
�It�s my first Nations Cup so I can�t tell you much but I think if I�m going to a tournament, it is to have playing time and some experience.
�So we will all go and give our 100 per cent.�
Jordan has come on leaps and bounds after making his full debut in a friendly against Brazil in September.
