Korle Bu Denies 'Killing' Accident Victim

Authorities at the Korle Bu Teaching hospital have rebuffed media reports that a teenage patient died recently at the hospital because doctors chose to have lunch at the time when the patient needed attention. A teenage patient who was referred from a clinic at Amasaman on account of a road-traffic accident on the 26 of December died shortly after he was rushed to the Korle bu hospital. Media reports indicated that the patient was sent to the hospital and for four hours the doctors at the accident centre refused him treatment because they were going to have meals. However, speaking to Citi News, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the hospital Mustapha Salifu, described the report as erroneous, explaining on the contrary that doctors and other staff on duty were constantly monitoring the patients condition until he passed away. He said the accident occurred on the 25 of December and the patient was sent to Korle Bu a day after the accident when he (patient) was already in a critical condition.
